New Eye Clinic Glen House, Exeter:
Glen House Eye Clinic’s existing two-storey building is converted to form an operating theatre, with Pre-Operation and Post Operation rooms adjacent to the waiting room and reception area, all on the ground floor. Interfurn recently designed and installed a clean air ventilation system on the site for client, Charles Bill Opticians.
The existing two-storey building is converted to form an operating theatre, with Pre-Operation and Post Operation rooms adjacent to the waiting room and reception area, all on the ground floor. First floor is predominantly administration with local air ventilation. The Air Handling system is located at the rear and outside the building with air directed into the building via cross over system to deliver controlled clean air at the selected temperature into the operating theatre. Pressure regimes are set to allow air to cascade from the operating theatre into associated rooms and maintain the airflow and temperature as selected via the control panel within the theatre. The control system is automated to raise or lower the air speed according to temperature and humidity changes in the atmosphere.
The Glen House Eye Clinic project required an intense 12 week programme, but was managed and delivered within the timescale and to the satisfaction of the client. It was put into operation in February 2015.
